Featured Artist: Ick Abrams

Here at Art Machine Productions, our goal is to bring you the best quality tattoo work possible in a relaxed studio atmosphere. You’ll find we’re not like other tattoo shops, from the way we look to the way we treat our clients. Here, you’re not just a number, you’re part of the family. In the spirit of bringing you the best studio experience, we’re going to feature artists from our staff so you can get to know them better, and hopefully that can help make your decision in finding an artist a little easier.

Say hello to Ick Abrams! Ick specializes in neotraditional with heavy, creepy influence from horror, the occult, and all that is metal. Pay him a visit for your next tattoo!

Live Through This: A Suicide Awareness and Prevention Charity Event

Here at Art Machine Productions, Suicide Awareness and Prevention are incredibly important topics that are close to our hearts. You may recall our April 6, 2012 art show "Still Fly" which benefited The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention as well as The Trevor Project. On May 6, 2016 we're teaming up with someone who does awareness a little differently. Live Through This is a photography project that showcases portraits of suicide attempt survivors alongside their stories.

We hope to shine a light on the topic once more with this special event. Join us May 6, 2016 for a special walk-in tattoo event at Art Machine Productions from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. featuring $50 - $150 flash specials. From 7 p.m. - 10 p.m. we'll be hosting a first Friday art gallery event featuring the artwork of many talented local (and some not so local) artists who have graciously donated the sale of their artwork to fund the Live Through This Project. Don't worry! We'll have some snacks and beverages for you to graze on while you're visiting the gallery that evening! All proceeds of the tattoo and art gallery event benefit Live Through This.

Check out the below clip of Dese'Rae L. Stage, the founder and photographer of the Live Through This project on NY1 as their featured New Yorker of the Week back on January 16, 2015

Honoring those who have been lost to suicide

The photo of the flyer is from 2 years ago we held a charity gallery show called “Still Fly”. The event was held to raise awareness about suicide and visitors were encouraged to pin a lifesaver to a board to honor loved ones lost to suicide. It was incredibly moving to see how many pins were on our board by the end of the show. How many lives had been affected by the loss of a loved one to suicide. All of the proceeds from “Still Fly” were donated to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s Philadelphia Chapter.

Unfortunately, a few months after the show, we lost another good friend and client to suicide. His wife is walking in AFSP’s Southern New Jersey WalkOut of the Darkness Community Walk to benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention this fall. We encourage you to support Kristin Savko in her walk with whatever donation you may be able to give. Your donation is tax deductible and would be greatly appreciated.

You can support her in her walk to honor her husband and all of those who are no longer with us due to suicide by clicking here.

We’re currently filling out our guest artist schedule for the rest of 2014!

If you have clientele in Philadelphia and are interested in doing a guest spot at Art Machine, please e-mail us a short bio about your time as a tattooer, links to your website and social media profiles (instagram, Facebook, twitter, etc.) and a few photos of tattoos you’ve done. Spots are limited and reserved for artists who demonstrate a mastery of tattooing. We are seeking artists whose work demonstrates their creativity. Tattoos should feature smooth, crisp lines, consistent blends, and close attention to detail. We’re looking forward to hearing from you!

Fox29’s “Good Day Philadelphia” hung out with Art Machine owner and artist, Tim Pangburn, this morning at the studio! Over the course of the show, they discussed the new season of “America’s Worst Tattoos” on TLC at 10 p.m. every Thursday, coverup tattoos, and even took a look at some viewer’s twitter submitted bad tattoos! Tim even had a little time to doodle a little marker tattoo on Jenn Frederick from the show. Thanks for hanging out with us this morning Fox29! It was a pleasure!
